Carpet steam cleaning versus a hire machine
A supermarket hire machine lifts the surface. A truck-mount clean reaches the base of the pile, which is what agents notice on light carpets.
Hire machines are useful for a single spill. They are a poor substitute when the carpet has to pass an inspection or a living room has a year of foot traffic in it.
What a hire machine leaves behind
Most portable units put more water in than they take out. The pile stays damp, the smell returns in a few days, and detergent residue attracts dirt faster than a dry carpet. Edges along skirtings are usually missed because the wand does not sit flat.
When steam cleaning is worth it
- Light nylon or wool that shows every track
- Pet traffic through a hallway
- An end-of-lease report that mentions stains
- An office that has not been cleaned since the fit-out
A proper steam clean uses controlled heat, a rinse, and enough extraction that the rooms can be walked the same day. We quote carpet by room so the price stays fixed before anyone arrives.
